This, That, These, Those


This (este), That (ese, esa o aquello), These (estos), Those (aquellos/esos) are called demonstratives and they are used to show the relative distance between the speaker and the noun. (se clasifica por demostrativos que se relaciona a una persona que indica a distancia describiendo a un nombre propio o comun)

Demonstrative Pronouns

We use this (singular) and these (plural) to refer to something that is
here / near. (usamos la palabra este de forma singular y estos de forma plural)

Examples:
  • This is my car. (singular) (este es mi automovil)
  • These are our children. (plural) (estos son nuestros ninos)
We use that (singular) and those (plural) to refer to something that is
there / far. (Usamos eso/aquello de forma singular; y esos o aquellos de forma plural)

Examples:
  • That is our house. (singular) (Esa es nuestra casa)
  • Those are my shoes. (plural) (Aquellos/esos son mis zapatos)
Note that the verb changes (i.e. singular / plural) depending on the pronoun that you use.

You can also use Demonstrative Pronouns by themselves:
  • Did you do that? Uste hizo eso?)
  • I'd like to buy these? (me gustaria comprar estos)
  • Which of those would you like?(Cual de esos te gustaria?)
